Looks very much there. The little dimples round the weld on the backside are an indication of penetration. A tad more would have been nice but have in mind that this is on two new pieces of metal and so you will need to adjust (back off ) a bit when welding on the car.
It is usually recommended to avoid lap welds as they are a location for water to get between the plates and rust !
Butt weld where possible and spot where the original was spotted.
doesnt look much wrong with them. as said above if you overlap the steel then there is a chance water could get trapped and rust it out again. i like to use weld thru primer on the bottom sheet first, then weld, then primer over the top and paint but i do agree that nothing beats a good butt weld that is welded all around and they look neater, especially if you linish them back, with a bit of practice you can get invisible joins quite easily
