Evening all, following the thread regarding the lack of projects put on the forum I thought I would share this one with you all.
I bought a 20 ton press in January for usual workshop jobs (shifting bearings ect) but I also wanted it to beable to cold bend nice tight corners in steel bar ect for other projects.
The idea was copied from my brother's press hes uses for his fabricating business.
As you can see it does a nice job of 6mm flat bar.
I bought the blade and V block off ebay. Springs from a car boot and the other stuff were from the scrap bin appart from the 4inch chrome bar which off a ram from a scrap yard.
After many hours of cutting, milling, turning and welding it is nearly done. just needs a lick of paint now.

Cool, how wide do you think it could fold, and what size is the ram

Ive a 50t enerpac long stroke ram, I bought too long ago for the very same job, just waiting for time and free steel

I think it will bend 3mm full width of blade (7 inch).
The 6mm I bent was 2 inch wide and went up to 10 ton on gauge.
It was so easy and neat. Saves bashing the hell out of the metal in the vice!

The ram has about a 10 inch stroke and is about 2 inch shaft.

Fazerruss, any links to the anvil/blade supplier, I've had a look but can't seem to find any links.

Mind you that maybe me being a numpty at ebay/google...

The v block was from a private seller (ebay) £9, and the blade was from another ebay seller "pressbraketool" in Bradford £25.

Have a look on ebay using words "press brake tooling" which should give a few results.

Nice project, I've been thinking about building a press / press brake for a wile now but keep running into the usual lack of space!
