Hello all,
I'm planning to make a workbench that will also be used for welding on occasion.
It will be made out of mild steel, and the plan is to paint everything except the top work surface. So, I want to prevent the mild steel from corroding, but at the same time, have a surface that is a good conductor for when I want to weld things. One option could be to use some kind of oil to coat the bare metal, but then whenever I put something on the table, it's going to become covered in oil. So then I thought maybe a wax would be a good choice, as this will dry. But then will I still get a good connection when I try welding? Besides, which oil or wax would be right for this application?
Thanks in advance for any advice!
