A while back, I asked the good people of this forum for help with a bandsaw project. The response was fantastic and thanks in no small part to Bob (8ob) in particular, I've finally finished the rebuild today.
This is how it looked when I bought it.
Fortunately, it came apart to fit in the car
First job was to make a trolley so I could move it around my cramped workshop
I knew when I bought it there were bits missing. I didn't initially realise how many and how long it would take me to make replacements.
This is where I struck gold. Bob lent me a complete blade guide assembly as a reference. This picture shows what I had on the left and Bob's on the right
I'd looked at plenty of pictures, but I would never have realised the thrust bearing is mounted on an eccentric bush
In the end, I went with a slightly simplified thrust bearing design, but I took the opportunity to build in fore-aft adjustment, which the original doesn't have.
In all, these were the parts needed for the blade guide
Of course, it's tempting to say I'm an expert on the lathe and everything turned out perfectly, but the contents of the scrap bin tell a different story......
Other bits needed
Replacement table adjustment knobs
