this OK for MOT?

Car started like this with a badly rusted front end (accident damage "repaired" with poly filler).

I cut "bits" out and ended up with this:

I've made the following section:

and here it is welded in (seam welded all around):

Now, however, I've realised that maybe I'm not allowed to make a box section like that? The steel was too thick for me to bend, so I just welded it together in four panels. Is that OK for MOT purposes?

pollyfilla that went out years ago the bodgers probably caulk it in with silicone or painters mate acrylic

your box section will probably be fine for mot as long as its welded properly

Should be fine, structurally it looks like the only bit that bolts to it is the anti rollbar bush saddle

that's an original part anyway The beam was rusted all the way *to* the mount, which was 100% rust free, so i just cut around it with a grinder and saved it
