I got a pair of huge size Record bolt croppers out of the canal dredgings, one solid lump of rust, attacked them with the wire brush on the grinder and soaked them in diesel, got them apart, and I still use them to this day.

heres some of the stuiff I retrieved all snapon -brother inlaw parted from- his missus and moved house. a lot of his gear went with -him but he left loads behind it was all brand new and garage roof leaking but it was- never covered up he since died and this lot getting chucked apart from those cabinets. there a bit far gone realy

no but there was loads of measuring gear dti gauges calipers and tons of other stuff just full of water and locked solid totally useless quite upsetting when u know it was all like new a few years back. there was a Honda 750 cb in mint condition just deteriating but a museum has took it on loan and its immaculate now

Edit: Just realised you meant you were keeping the tools. Deox C still worth a try though.

Interesting comment from 500e and bright spark.
A friend of mine has a lot of classic bikes, one of his mates had a wife who was always moaning about his classic Norton collection, when he bought a bike he told her Oh its just a scrapper for £40 for me to tinker with.
Sadly he died and she just rang the scrap man who took the lot, I believe it was worth more than his house! So its important that family know what your collectables are worth.
The cabinets are an ideal apprentice restoration project
