Been struggling with stainless 304 x 1.5mm Tube.
The welds I think were getting to hot and coming out dark grey.
I had tried turning down the amps to 30 but was still the same.
I was using 1mm 308 filler, 1.6mm 2% Lanth Tungsten,7-8 lpm Argon,Gas lense and no 10 cup.
Using my Thermal Arc 202 and CK flexloc 150
Had some time on my hands today so thought I would try and sort it.
Started off in pic 1 with Thermal arc recommended settings on pulse :
High 60 amps
low 33 amps
Width 33%
Hz 33
Down slope 1 sec
Pre flow 1 sec
Post flow 5 sec
0 Hot start
As you can see not very nice.
From then on in went from low amps with no pulse to higher amps with pulse and then vice versa.
I then changed the No 10 cup for a no 7 and made a huge difference.
Pics from 7 on were with the different cup.
Weld no 14 was with settings:
High 65
Low 33
Width 33
Hz 33
All other settings the same.
I am still getting a blue colour in the weld now and then but mainly straw/Gold colour.
Am I on the right track with these welds?
Any comments appreciated.
