Tow Truck re engine

ok l drag or try to anyway a big american fifth wheel camper with an iveco, its a real mission scarey at times so l decided no more i want horses and lots of them, well not so many horses but more torque,

this is what l tow with, 120 bhp ford claim maybe it is maybe it isent





anyway what ever it is its not enough need more grunt, so l picked up one of these as you do,



good thing about london fire engines is they dont go too far racking up the mileage, under 50,000 miles on this one

so its a volvo D6B engine for those anoraks who need to know with allison auto box, not sure what a fully loaded fire engine weighs but l bet its pretty heavy so l guess it will pull my fiver with ease

now i dident want to take my iveco off the road and render my fiver immobile which is what it is almost lol so i perused eaby and found an identical model with a snapped cam belt and 6 new tyres going very cheap

quick flurry of bids all in the last 5 seconds saw it heading my way



cant be doing with working in tight spaces so




that gives me a nice rolling chassis to play with

Isnt it going to lift the front of the trailer a bit high with the fifth wheel on the ladder rack? you will have to make longer landing legs not to mention the ladder to get in
suppose it might be handy if you set the kitchen on fire

so then we needed the new propulsion unit scotty, no need for engine cranes when you have excavators lol

more than a bit top heavy lol, would need an oxygen mask up that high, mind there was some in the lockers lol

Pull it with ease yes but at what cost. We never got many miles per gallon out of them....do you own a Filling station??

power to weight, it should be better pulling less weight

well if it was a fire engine it would have had the ar,,se pulled out of it and flogged what do u expect

i dont see the mileage as much of an issue, how many miles did you do with your fiver last year ? and iveco is chronic since my foot is flat to the floor if i am going to have to suffer poor mpg best get it over quickly rather that drag it out lol

I had a couple of 49-10s as recovery trucks still got one I think, the problem as I see it is the length from the front panel to the bulk head where it drops down to the bell housing but the later bodies had a longer nose i think to accomodate the intercooler the bonnet and wings might fit your cab they looked similar.
with that fan you are not bothering to connect the propshaft then, just have it like a prop plane stuck out the front??
