So...
The 200 quid Chinese tig lasted all of 12 days...sort of
Before I dive into taking it apart, it still sort of works...
MMA works fine, the display works fine, adjustments all register fine, but when I press the torch switch in tig mode I get nothing. No gas flow, no HF start, no arc, no noise or clicking to suggest it's even trying to work...doesn't matter if its on ac or dc either.
I've tested the torch switch, that's fine, I've also got voltage at the pins in the socket for the switch at 14v give or take.
So, is there anything common to look for?
I'll be the first to say, electronics aren't my stong point. I can replace components that are clearly duff, but at this point I can't make it any worse and I'm not hopeful that the Chinese warranty will be of any help so I'm not too worried about voiding that.
I have contacted the seller and if he is no use I will deal through Ebay anyway but resigned myself to the fact I'm buying a new welder when funds allow as It appears I quite like tig welding.
Will go for something a bit more reputable this time depending on what's available when I have the money
