130 BOC/cebora/snap on trigger issues

Hello all,
I've got a 130 migmate (BOC) and i have overhauled it as much as I can but the trigger is at best intermittant. When I pres it it either works, pauses then works or doesn't work. Is this a common problem and is there a remedy. Can I change the torch for eg a lerk or other one? Does it have a solenoid in the gun and is this a problem?

Thanks for any help or advice you can give me.

PS if I dont reply for a while, I'm not being ignorant, I just have to go to a public library and use the internet!!

Gas solenoid will be inside the welder casing Trigger in the gun will only be a switch,

gas solenoid is in the handle.
i would check the continuity of the switch wire first, then check out the switch. you could try some switch cleaner or buy a new one.

as far as i know these dont have a gas solenoid its just a gas valve in the torch the switch in the torch should be a very basic thing which you can easily clean you should also check the wiring and the relay it could be the relay arcing before it makes a good enough contact to work

Gas control on these torches is by a simple mechanical valve built into the torch brass body. The trigger is a crude connection at the bottom of the 'plunger' inside this body. Carefully strip the torch and remove the plastic base from the bottom of the block (catch the spring as it makes a bid for freedom!) Clean the contact on the plastic bit and the little projection on the plunger (they get arced and dirty). Reassemble using a little vaseline on the rubber O ting seals and you should be good to go.

yes its common especially if you do a lot of thin work with lots of stop start-found the cerboa (snap on) less reliable than the current (modified) Sips in this respect.

the hard contacts burn and get high resistance, Just file now and then like in the old days of keeping points equipped cars going.
