mate has a couple of these tractors
i beleive it was a tie up with Harry Ferguson an irish ,inventor and david brown the gear cutting company ,also it was the first tractor to have a hydraulic linkage
the tank had started to leak due to internal corrosion on the bottom section it was originaly tinned inside which had saved most of it
so i cut the bad bit out and we cleaned up the rest with a cup brush on a drill . i had originaly planned to joggle and tuck the new section in as an internal lap joint and silver solder . i realised that would give a poor capilary joint with the inner original surface being a bit rusty
so the new plate .9 galvy was laid on top , we bent the plate roughly over a gas bottle then drilled and fitted the aero riveting clamps
tacks were placed betweeen them
then we welde woodpecker style all around the joint till complete
a tyre vavle wsa soldered in to pressure ise the tank to about 4 psi
then soapy water was applied we had a bout a dozen small leaks mostly shrinkage pores and of course galvy sheet is not the easiest to weld it can be like a roman candle sometimes we fitted the original fittings an i made up some stainless mesh tube filters and siver soldered them on ,doubler plates were silver soldered on the out let connectors then migged on and again pressure tested job done
