1965 Atlas copco questions pls

Looking for some answers to a few questions please, here is a compressor I’ve just purchased, the tank reads atlas cop-co built in 1965 model number fe-5, the only makings on the pump are “made in the USA”. The unit works well pumping up to 95 psi then cutting out and kicking in again at 85 psi. but there dosen’t seem to be any filtration for the air going into the pump. The ports I have circled is where the air is being drawn in at present, is this normal? On first look i thought the air would be drawn in through the valve at the base of the "V" and that the filetr was just missing, after removing the valve at the base of the "V" i found a brass gauze type filter that I cleaned as it was filthy, after starting the compressor with the valve off and blocking the ports in the heads air was drawn through here, is this some sort of adjustable non retrun valve that i need to loosen to get the air to pass through it or is curren operation normal. The valve at the base of the "V" looks identical to the valve at the exit side of the pump.
The electric motor is a 1hp english electric compnay single phase unit p/n MC6726 on the side of the motor is a little flip up cap that looks like its for oil (see arrow) what is this for? thanks in advance for any answers.

The air intakes are the ports you have marked with the red circles. Air intake and exhaust have to be in the heads as this is where the valves are.
The other device is some sort of oiling system.
As for working pressure, is the pressure switch adjustable, to increase cutout pressure ?
Looks like this unit has been 'home brewed'. A motor of 1hp means air delivery will only be about 4 CFM or so, the motor may be undersized for the pump. The flip up cap is where the bearing is oiled. Half a dozen drops every so often, depending on how much it's used.

It is i think used in commercial refrigeration saw one at a plant auction once not the one for pot plants! lol

Its a refrigeration compressor as has already been said, you need to block off the two holes you have circled as they would be the connections for the pressure switches. The valve at the bottom af the vee should be back seated (wound right back) that would be your inlet.

this receiver looks identical to the one i had years and years ago infact it was the first i owned, if it is your tank will not have a drain on the bottom of it however the connection to the cylinder i have arrowed is the drain and should have had a small brass tap on it
if this is the case then an internal pipe from that connection goes to the bottom of the cylinder in order to drain it and shouldnt be connected to anything else as water will travel into whatever is connected to it

also from the mounting plate up nothing is original, the original pump on this model was tiny i doubt it even had a 1hp motor although i cant remember for sure

the pressure switch is adjustable and set at 100 psi which is all i need for the odd rattle gun/air ratchet burst.
The little brass tap for the drain is stiil in place and seems to work great at daining the tank through a attached plastic tube, I might still whip the plug out of the end of the tank for a quick look though.
Refrigeration pump eh..... well thats answered that question, the pump/motor runs so quiet and builds pressure at a pretty healthy rate up to pressure 100 psi in about 2 mins from empty.
I'll be backing off that valve and fitting a filter of some sort after i block those holes in the heads.
