2" Air Angle Sander

I've just bought one of these

And as I'm not fully sure what pressure is accepted when using these,but I've been testing it today. If I apply a bit of pressure onto the repair work,the pad stops turning. Whereas,if I lightly brush over the work area,it freely spins. I perceived that it should cope with applied pressure.
If anyone uses one,I'd be grateful on your views on using one.

Hi,i have a similar tool i use at work.Mine doesnt stall easily but we have a big compressor in the workshop.From memory these tools need a minimum of 6cfm to operate...if yours stalls then maybe you havent got enough air available...just a thought.

I have a 2"DA sander and you really have to hang off it to stall it, but then I've got a large compressor, same size as RTBComps ISTR

is the sander a DA if so are you expecting it to spin like an angle grinder because they dont, does it stop completely when you apply pressure.
what size compressor do you have (cfm) the tool should also state in the instruction how many cfm it requires most air tools like yours state no more then 80 psi

Well,I'm cutting pieces off a larger velcro sanding disc,so there will be sections sticking out. With that in mind,it looks like it's spinning but it just vibrates,and then when I ease off,I can see the difference,as I see the sanding disc sections revolving

My compressor is 13cfm (cubic feet per minute) pump on a 200ltr tank, my DA can empty the tank and then start to slow down quite quickly. DA's have to be one of the most air hungry tools you can use.

i had a look at the ad and can see that it will use 4 cubic feet per minute so to run it constantly you would need at least a 4cfm commpressor yours should be bigger then that with a 2.5 hp motor.
as for the sander the DA stands for dual action not only does the pad turn it also it operates in an orbital motion

Do you run it through the powercraft regulator that came with the compressor ?, how long is your air line, and do you set the pressure for 90psi at the reg with the trigger pulled.

A compressor pump is rated in CFM which is the volume of air the pump unit can pump (not compress) at normal air pressure of 1 bar (ie the free air we breathe).

The DA is rated at 4CFM @ 90psi which is a totally different volume of air to 4CFM @ 14.7 PSI (1 bar).

Its not just a matter of like for like volume wise....

Even though the inlet into the regulator is 10mm the air then has to pass through a 5mm if that, drilling to exit at the connector, also it doesn't have a water separator which gives you wet air that is not helping things.
