So whats wrong here then?

So I got some dried kiln sand and a sandblaster pot(Lidl one when it was on offer),connected it to the compressor with new air hose,filled pot with sand and regulated pressure at 40psi and it didn't do naff all on the aluminium plating on the engine.

I wasn't expecting miracles and the air would run out quite quick but I was willing to percy vere with the compressor but it just didn't do owt.

Help!!

Nozzle too big maybe, can't shift any sand. Even if it could though it'd take forever with one of those comps, and work it hard making hot & wet air. Can you adjust the nozzle shroud effort on it, screw it outward and see if it works at all.

Its blowin out the sand but its not concentrated in a jet type of spray,might be as you said nozzle too big?

Sand/shot blasting

Hiya chap made me giggle, firstly your compressor needs to have a least a 100Ltr reciver and a pump capacity of 14Cfm with a 3Hp motor to stand a fighting chance to supply the air requirement that you will need to do any blasting, and you pressure at the gun needs to be around 80/100 Psi to give you any results, good hunting.

You can just about do spot blasting with aluminium oxide powder with a small compressor like that - I've cleaned up a gate in order to do some welding with my little one like that. But it's not really big enough for sand blasting.

No good to me then if alls it'll do is spin up one or two tools.

Any company flogging compressors that small as suitable for sand blasting should have a visit from trading standards !

Thats true,Tiggy....its called false advertising,but hey no one complains.

Found oxide grit harder to shift than sand, but prob down to grit sizes. Tiny comp should manage spot blasting with sand, but notalot else, not without a small nozzle and a bucket of patience anyway... Think my el cheapo hand siphon gun says it wants at least 11cfm, 3mm nozzle I think.

Well since I cannot do the sandblasting with compressor I have had to go the vapour/wet blasting route ie pressure washer.

I have an old lance that have stripped,just got to find a way to attach the hose off the lance to the media sandblasting guns air hose connecter? pity it was not a screwable end piece,the hose is narrow bore.

Not strictly illegal. It is still legal to use sand for blasting structures, ie buildings and bridges apparently but not smaller items.
Shouldn't think there's a problem using sand for wet blasting though.

I've a wet sand blasting attachment to fit kew alto type lances with a bayonet connector if anyones interested.

It's not allowed for work unless wet and has been outlawed since the 60's. however that's for work!

This didn't work out,seems the lance was no compatible with the Karcher model I have(Aldi brand at the time I bought it).

to couple up the sandblasting pot via the short 1/4" hose I made up.

The guy is dear for his attachments ie the pressure washer sandblasting kit but I reckon my idea should work?

So what happened there?

Rigged the sandblasting gun up to a normal air hose and attached the pressure washer coupler I bought in post #15's link.

Turned on water/electric and the hose blew up and fractured at the 1/4 screw attachment end to the gun.

I'm guessing it was because the pipe is just rubber? as the original pressure hose that comes with the pressure washer is sheathed in rubber but the inner pipe is a polyproperlyne? pipe.

any thoughts,men?

Cheapest on the net and ebay,only problem is the connection to a Karcher is not same(not too worried though) and had to order it as local wickes did not have any in stock,still cheaper than the rest though.
