Well it all started out with a massive pile of logs and a back ache, so some research was done, and one of these was bought after battling the polish language for hours
Then off the stockholders for some 30x30 box , a few ideas and some scratching around and i made this
I was learning to Tig, i thought id concentrate on a project as well, so a lot of it was tigged, and some was also migged too. Sorting out the top!
I had the reinforce the top and make some spacers to sit inside the tubing so the bearing bolts wouldnt crush the tubing, the bird siht is just tacks to hold it before i welded it
A spacer before i tigged away! The spacers were made on the myford Ml10. i didnt use any filler rod so as to make the weld sunken and not need grinding.
I ballsd up using my mates metal cutter, and had to take off 10mm of this 3mm top sheet.so i fixed a bar onto the cordless grinder, and hey presto a straight cut!
showing the spacers , testing for a dry fit, the holes were drilled using a rotabroach, what a weapon!
A mock up for the motor location
And another
sorting out the anti rotation fin, that needs modding.Another job !
The jumbo hinge used to pivot the motor for belt tension, the hinge was made on the lathe from 25mm bar and cut n bored and a honda cg125 wheel spindle used .
add some electrics , a coat of hammerite and voila !
Big thanks for Stevie for the 2.2kw motor, although i think it will be upgraded to a 3kw shortly, and a bigger screw pulley will be fitted, its ok for 4 to 5 inch logs , but over that she struggles. The pulleys on its way from Poland, lord knows how long that will take under the corona travel ban.
