2k base, to prime or not to prime

hi there people
I was wondering can a base coat be applied straight over cured 2k clear.
or does it need to be re-primed as well
see, my trouble is, that I have recently just sprayed my car with 2k also using pearls and candy, all was well, I was on the last stretch when i went to mix up my last batch of pearl, turned around to get something to mix with and knocked them off the bench all over the flooro:
the candy pearl was mixed in with the clear coat.
I have had to order new pearls from the u.s, so by the time they get here the paint will be fully cured.
I will need to re-shoot the base again as i cant sand the clear without it being patchy and affecting the mica in the pearls but will i need to re-prime the car as well for proper adhesion or will blocking it with 600 be sufficient?
the car has a custom body kit with ALOT of detail and I'm kinda over sanding now, so if I could just go over the clear with base that would save me sanding it twice
on the plus side, my floor looks very pretty

feel for you brother, done it myself. The good news is no you dont need to prime. Just key up the clear 800 but dont go through into the base or it will pickle.

You shouldn't be mixing your candy in with the clear.
What you should do is buy some basecoat binder from your paint supplier,this is effectively clear basecoat.
Mix your candy in with the binder,spray this over your ground colour and then clear the lot,that way if you get any runs in the clear it won't affect the actual colour.

yeah thanks Daz but I'm a bit if'y about using the binder because I want the paint to really "pop" (be super bright) I don't want it to be dulled down or "cloudy", I've never used binder before but I would expect it to have a similar effect to acrylic clear, which although is still clear and can give good results is still no comparison to the 2k clear.
But I will take that under my belt and do a tester on an old panel to see how it comes up, I don't usually get runs anyway, but now that I've said that I probably will, Murffy's law!

You're not going to get it to "pop" any more by mixing it in the clear,all you're doing is suspending the candy and that's best done in binder,trust me

I've tried the binder and wasn't impressed with it to be honest, I found using 2K clear a better job
