2K Clear over cellulose prep advice please

Hi everyone i have just joined the site and have been reading through all the threads.
I came across the thread of applying 2k clear over cellulose.
I was thinking of doing this as i have recently resprayed my Mitsubishi GTO bright yellow in cellulose and im constantly cleaning it,living in london dose`nt help.
Whilst going for the safe cellulose option its dawned on me that the paint is unprotected to the elements such as weather and pollution,plus bird ****.So i need to protect my paint work in the long run
Perp wise,there is loads of coats of cellulose on the car,i was wondering what grade should i wet sand it to prior to applying the 2k clear ontop.

i would probably use 1000 grit if you are going to do it BUT
personally i wouldnt advise anyone to laquer over and older paint job as you may cause yourself problems such as laquer peeling later on, silicone contamination from polishes you may have used.
and marks that may also show through.
if i were you i would prep it with 800 grit get some base coat in the same colour apply the base wait for it go off then laquer straight away.
also 2k is nasty stuff ideally you should use an air fed mask for full protection.
failing that at least a carbon filter mask and dont be exposed to it any longer then is absolutely nescasary.

That is what car polish is for, to protect the paint. Cheaper than a clear laquer top coat, and far easier if you need to do a spot repair in the future.

used to be able to get clear celly,not sure if it is still available.
but not the best stuff,it yellows with age.
apart from that dont do it.
