2k questions.

Willing to learn - just about understand the principles only at the moment - but few questions.

Ok, i understand the risks of this product, but ONLY after this forum told me in the sticky.

1. Air compressor: Do i need a separate compressor for the air fed mask? And is wearing disposable suite most important too?

2. Safety: I live in a quiet hamlet, and am well sheltered outside without much of a breeze. Can i spray outside?

3. What type of paint gun is recommended? I was thinking gravity fed but of course i am totally new.

3a. Where do i buy the paint?

4. What other things do i need to take into consideration? I understand the total equipment cost will be relatively high, but doesn't put me off.

1 , if you have a big enough comp to power it all then fine , make sure its not breathing the paint fumes in..paper suit and gloves , might as well theyre really cheap and it keeps you clean and hair /lint out of the paint

2, as long as the overspray isnt traveling where others can breath it

3, yes gravity feed makes sense

3a , ebay , online paint suppliers , or a local motor factor

3a is the biggest question, which online suppliers would you recommend? Are there some companies that sell inferior quality products or is it pretty watertight on quality?

paint all depends on what you intend to do, if its a complete shell respray then online not to bad but if not the full shel and there will be some old paint showing then i would buy local just incase the colour is out slightly, then you can take it back and have it tinted

I would go somewhere that supplies paint and equipment and ask the questions and check the guns for suitability, probably find out whether you will be happy doing the painting or have any aptitude for it before spending loads of your money on all the equipment etc. Robert. The painting is only the last step in a process that results in an acceptable finish or something completely different.

As for 3a, gun type is all down to personal preference, myself i prefer a suction gun.
As for buying paint you really need to find a good paint factors, buying online is great if you know what your doing and are experienced. Also going to the shop and paying cash can get you sme great discounts.

Stick to a decent well known make Max Meyer, Lechlar, Standox etc the first 2 are middle of the road costwise but i've them both for years and they are very good. Cheap paint is exactly that, cheap paint.

It would appear a lot of problems posted here are where cheap paint has been bought & used, just my observations.

ask for a tech sheet on everything you buy , it will have mixing ratios , drying times and all the info you

we've had a few instances of the guy behind the counter giving misleading info , or mate down the pub who paints with celly steering people wrong
