Can i mix metal flake into 2pack? if so what tip size should i use?[gravity feed hvlp] any tips? plan to wet sand with 1000 grit litely,then spray a clear.will it work?my brothers restoreing 78 Ford 4wheel drive truck im doing the paint/bodywork. 2pack is a must,truck will be well usedI'll post pics in future.

had 1/2 gallon of Nason jetblack[a 2k igot from a house of color dealer] left from painting dump truck.i liked shine ok but would like it deeper. as for metal flake,that was just an idea but not best for this project.I'm still interested in putting 2part clear over2part colour.this is a great practice truck, i'll be lucky to make much more than beer!

that 1/2 gall should beenough to spray the truck,as long as you dont waste it.
what i would do is spray all the paint on should beable to get 3-4 coats.
then wet flat with 1200 grit,andpolish it up.if your a novice polish by hand,as a machine in the wrong hands can do a lot of damage.
there is no need to laquer it,if fact you'll will not be happy with it.
what you have is topcoat paint,not a base colour.so will will have adhesion problems down the line.

I've had trouble with multiple coats and 2 part. 1 tack coat then one wet once they start to flatten extra coats are hard to make wet.finish tends to look like cheap new car finish, same texture.i usually dont flat after final coat unless i get a run.how long do you let paint cure before sand/buffing?Ido alot of gel coat repairs and know alotgel coat,.not so much 2pack.I usually wait 2-3 days, but i've read to finish within 24 hours while still green? I might have read it on a spec sheet,but i dought it!

sounds like you want to use a slower thinner/reducer.that way you can keep it wet.
if i'm doing something special i'll leave it up to a week befor flatting.but then again i use a machine to polish it up.

I've got it! I need to use slower reducer.My finnishes act 1/2 dry on 3rd coat,and i have to put on heavy to stay wet. that leads to sags/texture problems.especialy at work spraying AWLGRIP where i could be spraying an area 80'*8' while on staging,trying to apply mirror finnish on 40' sail boat . i put a couple AWLGRIP photos in an album last week,check them out.Thanks for the info
