3 phase contactor

I need to replace the 3 contactors on my Bridgeport J head plus the old wiring.....
origially it was bought with a bad contactor, so just rewired 1 to the main motor (now Junk) and the other contactor to switch the cross feed and the suds pump (also 3phase).....
in photo 1, I use the all plastic outdoor switch to cut power to the switch side of the contactors as getting access to the original switch's is just bad design...

...I want all elec controls easy to hand.....
so, plan to mount 3 start stop push button contactor switches on a stainless plate mounted on the square stalk to replace that odd ball switch along with a new panic button switch.....
on the bay have found a small switch's ..... 3.1"H x 2.1"D x 2.1" W........

but they ask if I need a 6 wire or a 7 wire switch ....????? dohhhhhhhh


and yes the place is a mess but waiting to move......hahaha.......

Just to make this more complicated I think you only need three conductors to add remote stop start buttons to existing dol contactors.

Frank I'm pretty sure that's just a mechanical push-button switch, not any kind of solenoid contactor.

I think Frank's right, you need actual contactors and some push-buttons, normally-open for start, normally-closed for stop, plus a Big Red Button (normally-closed).
The contactors will need to be 3-pole normally-open with a normally-open aux contact to latch them (So you can take your finger off the button...), maybe it's just me but I always use 24v a.c. coil contactors and a 24v transformer for Pixie Protection, then the E-Stop can cut the 24v return when thumped?
You could even add some nice retro 24v indicator lamps (couple of Local Currency Units each from those nice gents in China) to tell you what is and isn't powered?

Oh, and another thing - as one who has pushed a brand new 3/4" carbide slot drill into the work with the power feed while the spindle wasn't turning, you can interlock the power feed contactor by feeding its start button from the coil side of the spindle motor contactor's aux contact - no spinny, no power feed!

ahhhhhh.....thought I'd made it........

so, 3 of these push buttons switches and 3 new cantactors then.........
the 3 new push button switches on the mounting plate and 3 new contactors in the old sw box, plus the panic sw.....

Buy a nice little plastic box to go on the arm, six basic push-buttons (illuminated if you like), put the contactors (and I recommend 24v transformer, elfin safety and all that) in the original switchery box out of harm's way, panic switch wherever's most accessible.
I also ran the 24v return through a XLR/Cannon socket and out to a big mushroom switch just inside the door of the Shed of Danger so my nearest and dearest don't have to dodge flailing body parts going "thud thud thud" to shut everything off in an emergency...

If using 24v for control, the cable still needs to be rated for the highest voltage in the machine, so you're going to need multicore (and cable glands to suit) rated for 600v to go from the electrics box to the switch box, if it has a MIL number associated it's probably good enough?

hi Dave,
ready to press the payment button on eBay for the elec parts but want to be sure that the contactor is the right 1....
item number eBay item number:282381678876........
BUT looking at the list there are others at 24volt.......just looked again and guess the CJX2-1810 24v.....the 18 stands for 18amp...?
the other is 1201 or 1210 guessing is 12amp.......?
sorry to be a pain......just want to get the correct thing.......

Yep, the 18xx are 18A rated, be certain that the Aux contact is NO (normally open) NOT NC (normally closed), if in doubt ask the seller? I *think* that the 01 on the end of the type number means NC contacts, 10 means NO, but I could be wrong (it has been known... all too often)
