3 phase starter switch

thank's for ur help in the past.....
the new switch is now fitted but have a small problem or NOT........
u'll see that all the wire were marked up prior to the strip out.....but the 1 blue wire was clipped to identify it from the rest....it came from the terminal 95, u can see the clipped end in the sw/box at the bottom of the picture...(red button with term 96 on the right)
now the new sw/box top of the picture has 95 and 96 term's top to bott with pre wired wires in red.....
compare the two box's the lower box has only 1 red wire.......
(guess there's internal wiring in the lower box ?????)
SO, do I connect the blue clipped wire back to term 95 ????
tried to trace the this blue wire but all the sleeving is the metal wound type but it seems to go to the chuck reversing switch.......
hope this all makes sence.....?
again I live in the Boonies and there's nobody to ask.......I prefer to take advice than just carry on blind....
certainly don't want a blow up or a melt down......

What was originally connected to 96?
95 & 96 are the overload trip contacts in the control circuit, often linked in to machine e stops, chuck guards, micro switches for covers and similar.

thanks for looking........nothing was connected to 96.........
the only wires connected to that side of the sw/box was to the lower terms T1, T2, T3..........

Hi Frank,
it looks like the red from old 96 goes to something. my guess is it's to the NO contact on the main contactor to provide the supply to latch it on?
The overload aux contacts 95 and 96 will go open-circuit in a fault, which will de-energise the main motor contactor and stop the motor.
If the blue does come from a f/r switch, it may be fed from a break-before-make so motor power is disconnected during the changeover, hard to say without knowing what machine, do you have a start/stop button pair as well as f/r? Do you have to hit start after changing direction?

the machine is a square top Colchester Student 6".......1967'ish.......
the Fw/Rv is/was live all the time.....by this I mean if the main contactor is on u can instantley change the head rotation.....dangerous !!!!!..
so I always switch off before changing chuck direction....
the main reason for getting this type of switch gear fitted was because the old system/switch (rotary) was set low down and in direct line with the spinning chuck......also dangerous......
at least this way if there is a prob u can just hit the stop button and walk outta the way..............
