300 cfm single phase compressor

Looking for ideas on a 260-300 cfm compressor for blasting part time only single phase at home. Was looking for a road compressor but hard got. Any point getting a 3 phase run it on a big Jenny or converter.

even at mine it was a 170 litre with output 14_21 cfm

A compressor that size you have only 2 real options, Diesel or a good 3 phase supply, you will not get 260 cfm on single phase or a phase converter.
EDIT>Probably off the top of my head its going to be around 40Kw+ motor.

There is no way you are going to 260-300 CFM on single phase unless you running 10-20 compressors at one time. Road compressor is the cheapest way. You don't need that kind of CFM for part time blasting, I have a 130CFM road compressor and it copes no problem

Wouldn’t know much about electrics. Just said I chance here first.15kv transformer coming in the shed. I used do on site blasting before and it was always a 260 cfm compressor used I know if you run a smaller nozzle a smaller compressor will do.

get a diesel road compressor or don't bother if you need that sort of cfm and cant get one. the p[rice of getting 3 phase and a large 3 phase comp will be cost [prohibitive

You were spoilt in your last job! Us mere mortals doing home blasting have to make do with 14cfm and tiny nozzles! I once used a huge road compressor and the blasting nozzle was like a fire hose - very fast but would cut a car in half and rather noisy - used grit rather fast as well.

I have a 90cfm mobile and pot has a 6mm jet. it can run up to 1.5mm copper slag grit and skin you alive been peppered a few times very fast on car wheels and the likes but large arias of flat plate could do with a larger comp and jet on pot

You used to be able to buy used road compressors relatively cheap but since they had to spread slurry using the umbilical systems, used compressors have became scarce & expensive.

If you have a spare tractor you could look for one of the compressors fitted to the back of industrial tractors, mounted on the linkage & pto driven. Farmers buy these tractors to use the front loader & usually swap the compressor for a concrete weight. You just have to be lucky & find one!

I have a huge 3phase compressor jobby and it won't keep up with my blast pot (1/2 the size of a dustbin) in the end paid a grand for a road compressor, never looked back...
I just do old chassis and tractor stuff.....
biggest problem is the mess. ..I build a temp open top room from 3/4 play and shovel for days cleaning up......hahaha....

I bought my Ingersoll 130CFM for £1600. It had low hours but the all the towing kit ie wheel/draw bar had been removed so they could go on lorries. That didn't worry me as it makes it less nickable. It's proper job, 1600 Yanmar diesel in it. I've got a 100L buffer tank and it fills it from empty to 100PSI in about 6-8 seconds. My cabinet needs 25-30CFM and it is just cruising with the cabinet flat out.

It's been said before you can't set up blasting for any kind or through put on the cheap.

Might go with the smaller compressor and nozzle.hope used steel shot reuse etc. any1 ever use something like a grain auger to refill a pot better than shoveling. Truck compressors would be pto driven aswell must find out what the likes of animal feed lorrys using.

I got my mobile comp for 150 quid spent 50 quid on filters and its a 1st time starter even though its old its hardly done anything . the blast pot is home made all with new hoses and blast nozzles that fell of the back of a wagon for 40 quid as said though your looking at big money for something half decent

Still have a 60 (or maybe 90, I forget) CFM 3phase, 15hp compressor unit here I never managed to get rid of. Can't imagine many single phase supplies would even be capable of pumping out the power to do 300cfm. Rough calculation suggests 200+amps!
