32amp 3 phase compressor HELP please

hi I recently bought a new 3phase compressor and plugged directly into my existing socket not realizing that the socket was 16amp and the compressor was 32amp it had been running for 3-4 months sometimes slower than normal but running them one day it just stopped could this just be lack of power or my compressor died?
Just after opinions before I scrap it

Hello Lee,

if it is running on a 16 amp socket then it does not need a 32 amp socket (Although it's possible that it is borderline and a higher supply is prudent). When you say new do you mean new or just new to you as you seem to feel it's possibly scrap?
Look at the motor nameplate to see what current it draws. Its not good that the motor runs slower than normal, but I suspect that the drive belt is slipping? If a motor runs slow it draws excess current and whatever protection that is fitted should trip and stop the compressor. This will need to be reset before a start can be attempted.

Take the belts off and see if the motor turns when plugged in.

Sounds like a duff motor or your pump has run without oil..

Stick a pic up of the motor data plate - 32a 3 phase is a big motor!
