3d printing front bumper

Hi guys I know it's a big ask but can it be done some bit reasonable. Would like it done in one piece aswell I want it unpainted/ plastic finish. Bumper is rough 5.5 foot by 1 foot in height. Can it be done

Not with anything you can buy for home use , it would be very expensive I suspect . Do you have it as digital file ready for printing or does the old one need scanning ?

I find it extremely difficult to believe that the quality of the end result is worth even a fraction of the effort, however there are people on Faceberk 3D printing stuff like that for MX5s (bumpers, splitters, and even a hardtop) but it is invariably pieced together from dozens of smaller bits. Takes all sorts.

Design in dovetails so that you can print in pieces, slide them together, and then bolt or glue in place.

There are large scale printers out there but to get one large enough for a 1pc bumper will be costly.

Elegoo Orangestorm giga is he large affordable printer which is 1000x800x800 if I remember rightly so could so it in 2 pieces.

But then costs around the 3k mark.

Anything is possible but 3d printing isn't always the answer. A mate of mine in Southampton could probably make it out of carbon fibre or fibreglass far cheaper and quicker than a 3d printer would.

Yes it can be done, is it a good idea? No.
Im not aware which machines are that big, but I am sure there are some. Its likely to be expensive.
Prints are not very strong between the horizontal layers so the print orientation may be important.

I suppose it could be dont on a normal small printer by pausing and dropping the bed as a bumper isnonly big in one axis.

However you could print in ABS sections and solvent weld them together, once cured it would be very strong. Put some reinforcement tabs along the join.

Do you have a link / recommendation to a business? I’ve a spoiler I’ve wanted reproducing in carbon for years but never tied anyone down to take it on.

No.......not sensibly.

3d printers are available for extra long prints. Look up 3d mill or belt printers.

Don't know of any businesses that print with them and I dread to think of the potential cost - not just for the print but the model too unless you already have one.
