3hp, 150l clarke(ish) compressor speed

Just wondering if anyone with a compressor that uses this common, "Clarke" pump could tell me what speed their motor runs at?

Mines actually a "compair" but the pump looks the same. I suspect it's just a compair sticker. I can't get any sensefrom compair and the Clarke site isn't too helpful.

Currently running a 2800rpm 1phase motor (5": 13" pulleys) and it works ok.... But is hard to stop things getting pretty hot. I know that the motor has probably been changed and wondered if maybe it ought to have a slower one.

mine runs at 2870 rpm on motor ( clarke compressor)

the cheapo pumps generaly run of a 2800 rpm motor quality ones of a 1450 rpm

just out of curiosity my fiac compressor ( my other compressor) runs at 1440 rpm but both pump units physically look almost the same . possibly the motor and/or pulleys are not correct if overheating

Thanks for all your help , sounds like it could well be alright at that speed. Perhaps I can fashion an aftercooler.

From research I've done on my compressor which uses a similar pump the pump is designed to run at anything from 900 to 1300 rpm. Obviously if you run it slower it takes longer to fill but increases the service life of the pump. A CSCR 1400 rpm motor will give better starting torque and will probably run cooler.
