3M mask with air supply

I use a 3M 6800 full face mask at work for fibreglass work. Recently out of curiousity I found a cheap chinese kit to make it air fed, I was wondering if this setup would be acceptable for spraying 2k paints or not? Maybe with a better filter etc. Any reason why it wouldn't be ok? Any one else using this setup?

I have a proper airfed mask i bought years ago, and have often wondered why they are so expensive. Its a simple mask like yours, a small filter, a belt and a length of plastic pipe joining the two.

I have a half mask that is similar to that. The carbon filter that is in it is probably the most expensive part. You still need a 3 stage filter in the supply before it. When it was purchased I was informed that it was also suitable for painting with as it was supplied by a paint supplier but I use it when mig welding aluminium

They charge so much because they can, and rely on organisations buying them in order to show that they are complying with legislation! The inspector would not be impressed with a home made mask, or other bit of safety equipment even if it was better than you could buy commercially.

For many years I sprayed 2k iso, epoxy, single stage etc with a homemade air fed mask... Got a proper one now.
