4mm welding rods

First of all I want to wish everyone a happy new year. I have abit of fabrication coming up in my home shop and I’m thinking of buying a bigger arc welder to burn a few 4mm rods currently I have a frounis ignis 150 . Is there any bigger inverters that will burn a 4 mm rod

You'll be at the top end of 13amp household supply. The machine is not the limitation but the power supply may be.

What about a reliable transformer welder, or is mobility an issue?

I have been looking for a transformer plant for quite some time but there hard to get a good second hand one and there not been made new any more as far as I can tell . I don’t have enough work to justify a mig . The bit of fabrication I have to do will take me about two days and after that I won’t have much to do for few months

No not one there very hard to get . Any one that has one seems to keep them

this is just one job but every now and again I need to weld up stuff on the farm and being able to burn a 4mm is nice. I was thinking about one of them 200 amp Honda sincro welders

A quick look at the boxes of 4mm rods I have hear suggests 150a-190a.

I've certainly used them on 200a machines to weld heavy stuff like stub axles with no problems.

A 200 amp Blackline will burn a 4mm rod.

I used to weld 4mm rod after rod with a Chinese 200amp welder no problem when I was putting sand flukes on massive anchors. I think someone on the forum bought it from me, it was still working well but the case was falling apart with all the bashing it got from me.
