500/550 Volt Bench Grinder Help

Hi,
I have wanted a proper bench grinder for some time now, but never got round to buying one. However today i found one in a old building on my grandads farm.

Its made by Victor Products, looks quite old. The main problem with it is, its 500/550V 3phase.

Is there anyway i can run this on 240v single phase? VFD? RPC?

Can you take a picture inside the connection box of the motor?

its not dual voltage so will only run on a 440v converter unless u fancy taking it to an armature winders and have the motor connections separated to run on 240v 3 phase . not worth the bother

it will run ok .its only 85 volts down I work on a few farms that still use them. it will run smooth but just a bit down on power .as I said its not worth bothering with though some farms I work on the power drops to 200 volt at peak times and the motors still run

Here is a photo of it so you know what im going on about.

The flash on my camera makes it look alot more rusty than it is. It also looks small in the photo. Its about 12" high, 18" wide and it very heavy.

Its a shame because its heavy duty compared to the modern crap you can buy nowadays.

Thats where i think it has come from. As a local quarry was owned by the NCB, and my great grandfather bought loads of tools and workbenchs etc out of it.

The photo, honestly, makes it look a thousand times worse than it is.

From the first picture it looks like it has got wet, probably needs to sit in a nice dry/warm building with all the covers off for a good few weeks to dry if the windings have got damp.

The IMI Witton plant in Birmingham used to generate their own power at a similar voltage.

Go on, suggest it anyway.

Reversing a 230 110 transformer and using the new voltage as a base for a static or rotary converter.
