For years I had been using a friend's compressor. As it was not mine it would sit about in the garage when not in use getting in the way. Over the years I had bought a number of air tools such as spray guns, tyre inflators etc and had been thinking I ought to have my own compressor. In the autumn I burnt out yet another dremil type tool and desided that rather than by another I ought to take the plunge and buy my own compressor and an air powered die grinder to replace the dremil.
So as to be able to run the compressor in the evening I have put it in an insulated box in a shed behind the garage and plumbed the air supply into the garage. Now i can only hear a distant hum. That is untill I try using the die grinder! What a racket they make. It reminds me of a tyre fitters air ratchet. I used to get away with using a dremil in the evening but I don't think I will get away with that.
Is it reasonable to assume that an air powered finger file or DA sander will be as loud?
