Picked these up free from a charity shop in South Moulten. The ballast (plaster board) in the bases had got wet and turned to mush making the tables top heavy and unstable.
They looked like this upon arrival
Quick clean up and I epoxied some cut down wood screws
To give the sharp sand mix I poured in to provide the ballast something to bite on to
Once dried I thought I’d be clever and drill through the holes, didn’t quite go to plan as it blew out a little. Also few of the screws were proud. Nothing a tickle with the grinder wouldn’t sort. Also had a chance to play with the lathe to make over size washers. Forgot to take pictures. What would I do without the lathe
Then cut out some discs of carpet to cover the concrete. Stamped some holes. One came out perfect, this one didn’t. Not the end of the world as screws pass through and holes covered by over size washers. Ssshhhh, don’t tell anyone I cocked up
Quick rub over with some metal polish on the shiney bits and Tesco’s finest glass polish, on err the glass tops and we have two tables bought back to life
And before any one says, the one on the right is a tad wonky, just noted in the pics. It’s fixed now
