A different kind of welding trolley

I made this to house all my welding equipment in a multi disciplinary workshop. It was made to house brand new welders, which will be purchased later on. For now, my very old equipment fits just fine.

I've found the general concept works well. It packs up nice and quick. Having good quality wheels with nylon facings is great. Having a place to store cabling is amazing. The bits stored in the drawers, is just great, usually a bit better organized but a time saving feature. I added four corner tie downs at the top so it can be trucked safely from site to site/moved if needed.


The base, is 6mm thick, oval edged, rectangular tube. The rest is 2mm thick, packing steel (because I get it free).

Oh, I take the point. But oddly, no. The nylon wheels make a huge difference, but I think the fact the base is heavy(er) steel, with the bottles at the bottom helps. The tigs damn heavy, and thats low too. But yeah it's just not an issue. Probably because the floors so smooth.

It's been very stable on the super smooth floor and covered court yard I have. Its 2100mm high, so just over my head. To be fair, stability was never considered just what would fit where in a packed workshop.

Actually the main issue with it is ... haha I quickly ran out of space on it.

Well .. it was beautifully shiney an unmarked 6months ago. Now its scarred and dull. It's the expensive as all heck Berger Concrete paint. 3 coats, from a 20lt drum. Good good that stuff stinks.

But, nothing's ever going to last under daily abuse not a chance. The paint guy said there's no product on the market that's going to stay perfect under multi disciplinary workshop abuse.
