ABC qualifications worth it?

Hi all newbie here!! My first post i just wanted to introduce myself and where im at. Im 25 and now living in caramrthen, south wales. In 2006 i undertook my Level 1 in Engineering Operations however the company/training provider went into liquidation but fortunately i was quickly employed again for Network Rail doing Track Maintenance. Since however i've continued to weld using mainly MIG restoring all the classic cars i've had over the years and I've got the bug again so much that i want to get my career back on the welding track . I've seen a local college doing ABC Level 2 and 3 qualifications in welding and fabrication, are these worth the time? I want to continue earning while i undertake the course what with the mortgage and current economic climate the way it is! Thanks guys for your time reading this, all feedback appreciated!

Welcome to the forum.
Its only my opinion, but I think the ABC or City & Guilds qualifications are invaluable if you intend being a professional welder. They will make you a better, more confident welder. Improving your employability and your mobility within industry. I have over the years worked with both, trained, and self taught people. The difference is usually vast. That isn't to say I haven't worked with some very good self taught personnel, I have. But they almost always lack a great deal of knowledge. Often safety related, which can be worrying.
This may upset some people, but I think if you haven't got the basic qualifications you are an armature and shouldn't be employed as a professional. As I said only my opinion.
