Hi yes I’ve got one and getting round to figure how to power the 10hp motor it has with it! On the pump it says AC41 H41G. It surely is a heavy unit! The receiver tank that is attached to it is a 500litre tank, I’ve opened up the inspection holes and removed the loose rust that was on the bottom of the tank, should I coat the inside with anything to prolong its use? Receiver plate shows all the receiver specs I.e WP 150psi and build date 1973! ThanksIf it's made of cast iron it'll outlast this modern rubbish but they tend to be not as fast getting up to press...
Have an old twin iron compressor that been around for a v/long time, bit oily but great for the other workshop...
My main comp is a prof thing abso huge but all ally and direct drive, 3phase....
Have heard that the motor pump assy for that is over 3grand.....whooops...
Go for it, get it running esp if it's cheap....
My small one was made from other people junk.....gives me warm glow when I think what it would cost to buy new...
Good luck
Hi I’m figuring out how to run the 10hp motor atm!Have you got anything to drive it? It's a big beast and is unlikely to work on a household electric supply.
they run forever dont worry about rust in the bottom of tank there thicker that the modern ones . if it did leak it would only pin hole and you would hear it . lots of scare mongering and tales of exploding tanks aboutHi yes I’ve got one and getting round to figure how to power the 10hp motor it has with it! I will be hooking it up to a vacublast eventually, the weight of this unit is HEAVY!I've got one. It's pretty big. If you can, spin it up and make sure it has oil pressure - there should be a gauge and that the unloaders work.
As mentioned, nothing I have would power the 7-10hp (I forget what it was) motor it required. But I wanted it as a mobile unit so made it run from a tractor PTO.
Ps, I still have an even bigger water cooled broomwade I need to move on. Turned it over and span the 15hp motor up last week.
I’m glad you said because I have been hearing lots of these scary tales on the net. I have a cheap compressor which I garuntee was China made and don’t look or weigh anywhere near the Broomwadethey run forever dont worry about rust in the bottom of tank there thicker that the modern ones . if it did leak it would only pin hole and you would hear it . lots of scare mongering and tales of exploding tanks about
Fair bit of oil in the receiver as well just below the filler pipe, may need to check piston rings, but probably betterthey run forever dont worry about rust in the bottom of tank there thicker that the modern ones . if it did leak it would only pin hole and you would hear it . lots of scare mongering and tales of exploding tanks about
It had a fair bit of the receiver walls and bottom covered in oil, probably the rings need doing? But will defo in my opinion need a full seeing over! The '41 I have was pretty tired when I got it (well it still is I suppose!). It has bearings like on it like an old engine, shims to adjust clearance.
The oil system is pressurised and if the bearings are too slack, you'll see low oil pressure. If they're very slack, you may even hear them clonking. A certain amount can be shimmed out but not to unworn state.
Hopefully yours has been looked after - as well maintained, wear should be minimal.
But yes, as a priority, I'd try to spin it up, check oil pressure and that the unloaders system works as it should.
Stop it going rusty thoughIt had a fair bit of the receiver walls and bottom covered in oil!
