acid dipping / paint stripping

i have a few sets of wheels i want to re paint but need to strip the old paint off
but most of them have been powder coated with about another 5 coats of paint on top so theres a lot to get off

i have tryed nitromors but you have to use about £15 worth of it on one wheel and it takes about a week so not worth it

what i was thinking of doing was geting someing big enough to fit one wheel in and use some type of acid but dont want it to start eating away at the alloy as most of the wheels i want to do have polished dishes and dont want to mess them up

i have tryed sand blasting as well but my compressor isnt man enough

whats the best thing to do ???

I think, if I were you, I'd probably look for a local shot blasting company, who could strip them for me.

From personal experience, I am currently trying to strip some large Jag alloys - with no more than one coat of lacquer on them and doing it on a DIY basis is a nightmare.

If you are intent on getting the best result, then it's worth spending a few quid up front to get it right. Also saves any nagging concerns going forward about the damage that acid strippers may have done to the alloy.

Gritblasting powder coating can be a nightmare too, it depends on the quality of the coating.

the paint on the wheels is so stubborn blasting hardly even touches it pant striper just makes it feal like rubber and cant get it off with a wire brush

what i was thinking of geting it some water based paint striper and just mixing it with some more water so it would be 50/50 mix then dip the wheels in it say for a hour at a time then hope that will cleen them up

and less any one knows and seccret recipe ??

get sumone to dip them in phenol overnite .doesnt damage alloy but strips paint and melts solid carbon just washes off. i had a 50 gallon drum of it .one pinhead touch on skin burns like hell i got rid . was 2 nasy to have lying around

where could i get my hands on some of that sounds a bit scary tho.

anying a bit more safer ??
