Acrow (acro) props for a bench

I'm starting to put together a list of materials that I'll need, to make a work bench for my garage. And as I have a couple of acrow props, I was wondering whether it would be possible to chop them up to use as adjustable bench legs?
Has anyone done this already, and if so, did it work. (I used the forum search, but didn't see anything)
All suggestions gratefully accepted.

I have been thinking on the same lines. The only problem that occurred to me was that the table might wobble because the two sections of an acrow bar are a fairly loose fit.

Maybe a nut & bolt instead of a peg might help.
