Adaptor For Attaching An Air Line To My Compressor.

My compressor manual says, " Your compressor is ready to accept air hoses with uni adaptors into the spring quick outlet coupler. "
The 5M Draper air line I bought has 13mm ID and 21mm OD comes with 1/2" BSP male fittings. What type of adapter do I need to connect the air line to the compressor? This might be just one end,
as I've read to keep the air line as short as possible to reduce or prevent any moisture build up
? So if doing this, is a good idea? How do I cut the hose, sharp heavy duty scissors, do a good enough job?
How do I fit a new connector onto the severed end, what type, an adaptor?

5 mtr is fairly short anyway so I wouldn't shorten it any more unless you're never going to work more than a few feet from the compressor.
Uni fittings are ready available - machine mart, ebay etc, you will need a male fitting with a female 1/4 BSPT to plug into the compressor and probably a BSPT 1/4 male to 1/2 female adapter

then you need to order whatever fittings you need for the other end of the hose.

See attached screenshot for connector on the actual sandblaster. The unmodified Draper air line with the 1/2" BSP male fitting fits in here, what type of adaptor, coupler do I need to get?

My mistake, the other end of the compressor air line doesn't connect directly to the sandblaster. The air line connects to the 3/8 ??? ball valve which connects to my Jet 1/2" NPT air filter regulator, part of the air supply pinch valve set up. See attached.

Cut air line with a knife, but you don't need to do you.
You can get 1/2" bsp type 25/320 fittings, I use them on my filter outs.
You want a 1/2"bsp>320 nipple on one end of the hose and a quick release on the other end of the hose.

Then you put another nipple on what you want to connect to.

OK but I don't think the bsp standard will be compatible with the npt port on the Jet water trap?

Hi again, this looks like the same picture of the 1/4 to 1/2 female adapter ebay listing 191426389388 though description says 1/4"bspt male to 1/2"bsp female you don't say female is bsp. Would the one I give the listing number for be the correct one?

can you run through exactly what you want to connect too at each end? A blast pot will need the largest possible bore run between compressor and pot, dropping to 1/4 isn't ideal.

Pneumatic places stock NPT as well as bsp fittings, but I would get a bsp>npt adapter and use a bsp fitting.

Looking at the attached screenshot A. Is a bit confusing as his set up is for running two pots,has them labeled as white and red system. I just want the single red system.
I also attach for clarification screenshot B and C schematics for a single system.

Referring to screenshot A, as a guide,

The Draper air line with 13mm 1/2" BSP male fittings. One end of this fits into the compressors spring quick connect outlet coupler.
The other end will fit into a ball valve, the exiton the other side fits into my American JET 1/2" NPT air/filter regulator. I assume this, will determine the size of the ball valve with without NPT thread, adapter?
( I bought the JET from Amazon USA not realising at the time I could get much the same think in the UK ) The outlet from the JET then goes into a T ( he has used, I think a galvanised plumbing pipe fitting, perhaps there is a more suitable,
straightforward type of T to use? ) The side out of the T goes into a pressure regulator valve - spec says Adapter Diameter: PT 1/4, I assume PT is Chinese for NPT can see it ebay item number 351047069388
The bottom of the T connects to some pipe ( I'm intending to make this pipe up with 15mm copper pipe and thread it with my BSP pipe threader using a 1/2" BSP die, am I right to use 15mm pipe and 1/2" die,
will match up with everything else? Will need suitable connects to join pipe into bottom of T. The pipe running from the bottom of the T goes into an elbow this connects into another pressure regulator valve
same as the chinese one. An elbow exits from the side of this regulator valve connecting to another ball valve. A narrow black hose I assume fitted with some type of adapter runs from the ball valve to the
foot control pedal. Ebay item number 290913204464 Two Position Three Way PT 1/4" Direct Acting Foot Operated Valve Air Switch.

If it was my system l wouldn't bother using the compressor regulated output for a high demand system, your tank will have a large screw in plug in one end, if you take it out and fit a reducing bush to allow your hose to screw straight in you will be able to flow a lot more air.

The rest of your system can be connected up with off the shelf elbows, tee's, hex nipples and adaptors. Keep the sizes as large as possible In the blast line. The picture above looks to use malleable iron fittings.

You can buy BSPT x hosetail to make up your own hoses for the foot pedal etc or hosetail x quick coupling if you need to disconnect. Hose is ready avaliable from all the usual sources.

PT is notation for BSPT.

Copper pipe is unlikely to be thick walled enough to take a thread, use plumbing fittings and the tube or a barrel nipple in the length you require.

I don't know if we are on the same page on this? 50 psi is the max I will be using for surface etching and carving into glass.
Good point about the copper pipe, didn't think of that. Could thread steel pipe with a thick enough wall. Are plumbing fittings available in NPT as well as BSP, BSPT, I read that BSP, BSPT will fit into NPT but threads won't lock perfectly as different angle.

Ha I didn't read that bit, I was thinking dirty big blast pot....

Plumbing fittings are BSP, it's not brilliant mixing threads however at 50 psi provide it screws in well I would do it at home (I'd get shot for doing it at work!) don't forget to ptfe tape the male threads.

As I said barrel nipples are available quite cheaply - ready threaded steel pipe in a variety of sizes.
