Adjustable Feet

Does anyone know where I can buy some metal feet for my new welding bench which are threaded (say M12 or M16) and reasonably substantial? The legs are 50x50x3 RHS which will be capped at the ends so the threaded part of the adjustable feet will go up through the caps.

I'd buy 4 bolts (or pull 'em out of the scrap pile ) then drill and tap the caps to suit. Weld circles of steel to the top of the heads, put on a nut to lock 'em tight and you're done.

How complex were you thinking of?

Weld a nut to the back of a plate (drill a hole through it first!), then weld the plate to the end of the leg. Put the nut either inside or outside (top or bottom side of plate).

Spin a bolt into the end of the leg (head down).

Our cooker has adjustable feet on it and no lock nuts, just threaded inserts in the bottom and it's never moved in the last 3 years, I'll have to pull it out to clean behind it one day If you are not going to be moving it around regularly just put some shims under the legs that are short, keep it simple.

Good plan to make them yourself but just in case you didn't want to do that for some reason....

when in a rush we've bought them through rsww feet....but would normally do as Al described....but have often welded a plate to the head of the bolt to spread the load

Thanks all for taking the time to reply. All good practical solutions. This bench will be a bit snazzy (similar to a Miller Arc Station with some mods) so I want it to look really manufactured. The bench will be moved about quite a bit. I had in mind some machined cylindrical feet with chamfered tops and threads coming out and lock nuts to butt up against the leg caps. Trouble is I don't have a lathe (yet).

i thing i have some at work, think they have plastic feet though. m16 threaded. used on some decent sized benches at work. pm me if your interested and i will have a look on monday
