Adjusting pressure cut out on a sealey compressor?

Hadn't noticed this until the other night but since I got the problem with my compressor sorted and starting up easily, it's not reaching the same tank pressure as it used to before it cuts out.

Should be 145psi and it cuts out around 120psi and I think it's because it has a different pressure switch fitted, which hasn't been set right presumably.

I know you can adjust these so I want to get it back up to 145psi limit again where it should be.

I know which way to adjust this but not roughly how much? There's two cut in adjusters and I don't really want to meddle with those at present, just the pressure differential one, but don't want to go miles too far or have to adjust it a zillion times before I get it more or less right etc.

Anyone know roughly what sort of PSI increase you get from adjusting the differential by say one full turn for instance?

BTW, the control box/pressure switch is a Condor MDR2 unit.

take note of what its cutting out at now give it half a turn then check again if it goes up 10 psi or whatever and it will be a full turn for 20 psi if its 2 much turn it back down

Tighten the nut to increase cut-off pressure, slacken to reduce.

There is usually one big spring with the adjusting nut/screw running down its centre, some switches have two smaller identical springs and adjusters, these should be adjusted together.

Thanks chaps - I know the layout of these controls and it's on the linked instructions etc.

Just wasn't sure if there was a 'norm' for how much they need turning for a given increase in pressure requirement or what have you.
Suppose really it probably varies a lot from one pressure switch to the next so a bit of a daft question in hindsight!

Will just go and try a half turn as suggested and see what the result is!

Sorted now after a little bit of trial and error. Well, just trial actually.

It cuts out at 142psi now and I'm happy enough with that as the instructions say 145psi.

For future reference (even though it'll vary between machines of course), that took approx 5-5.5 full clockwise turns of the differential to get from 120psi cutout to 142.

I have not touched the cut in adjusters at all.

Just tried my new £23 finger belt sander and it's superb for the money!!
I can't tell you how great it is to finally have a compressor that actually works and runs things!

I have noticed the compressor does not restart until the pressure has reached 80 PSI and this is too low for those tools to operate effectively.

I am not convinced of the accuracy of the pressure gauges so I will buy some more and then try and trouble shoot. I might be back for more advice. I have a 3hp 200 litres compressor so I would expect this to be good enough but a new pressure switch is around £225 so I am reluctant to change that yet

Might be nothing wrong with mine but I cant find diagram of how to adjust the cut in pressure to keep the pressure higher for longer.

Good pressure switches are telemecanique XMPE12b2431 1/4 bsp, single phase up to 12 bar 174 psi,best part is they have 1 bar differential, built in compressor head pressure unloader and about £25

They do hundreds of different ones I spent ages checking part number /costs, they can be up to £100 for virtually the same just maybe diff thread.
I have one in my hand as I type!
The BIG advantage is the pressure diff. the cheaper chinese ones are at best about 3bar

So what I am trying to adjust can not be adjusted on mine then?? Its differential I would imagine as it reaches 150 PSI but does not restart until the pressure hits 80 PSI and this is too low for the sandblaster and it never builds back up to decent working pressure despite the 200 litres tank.

the diferential on my switch is 30 psi set at 120psi and cuts back in at 90 psi if u have a pot of cash to spend danfoss are the best with adjustable diff

I dont...lol I am trying to make my workshop earn money as my lad can only find **** paid jobs and wants to use it at night and weekends. But without working tools things get harder. WE have a sand blaster cabinet and 3 guns but none of them work correctly but we looked at the drop in pressure today and it seemed it might be the issue. especially as we have a 200 litre tank.

I will settle for a bar for 25 quid if I can source the supplier norm uses lol

what size pipes are u using to feed your tools and blaster . bore size i use 15mm. no pressure loss another tip to get extra time out of your comp for blasting is if it cuts out at 150 psi run it up to 145 psi and start blasting strait away that way the pump is still running without cutting out . otherwise if it gets to full pressure and stops the pump wont start to run again till it gets down to 90psi

The larger size I think but I will check now you mention it. Also thanks for that tip. I think I have done it before but its always good to be reminded of these tricks.
