Advice for renewing fusebox

Firstly I worked as an electrician 17th edition for a few years but the only domestic work I did was first fix on a couple of places and college practical. I am looking for advice before deciding to do it myself or get a local sparky in to do it quickly.

Secondly this is a bit of a mess and I want to sort it out. I know that everything mounted on the metre board is legally outside my ability to change so I am looking to install an MK Sentry 8way or 10way consumer unit instead of having the two separate fuse boxes
The smaller of the fuse boxes is supplied by a red wire from the radio teleswitch and the larger from the black junction box between the metre and the teleswitch. What is the best option regarding how to deal with the separate supplies? (edited due to hangover)

I don't understand your question mate as you have already answered it yourself? You can do your consumer unit but you will have to call the company to have the consumer unit supply connected to the units on the meter board with the lead seals on them.

Wire up and test the consumer board, then call Eastern Elec when you're ready to switch over.

you have in effect 2 separate feeds with the radio teleswitch. one is permenat on and the other is switch on when the cheap rate comes in. out sse one is 23:30 - 0:30 and 01:30 - 07:30

If you don't use economy 7 or have storage heaters you could have it changed to single. This will need a new meter and you will need to speak to eastern Electric as your supplier

fyi we have two consumer units one for "normal 24/7" and a smaller one for the night stores and water. This looks to be how you are set up at the moment

You worked as a 17th Ed sparky for a number of years, but have to ask how to change a CU and wiring that's currently set up for E7. Step away and call an electrician, if you'd trained as a spark with 17th Ed certification you should know what you're doing.

I do know what I'm doing but the majority of time I was working as an electrician I was wiring 20' containers that were in modular systems for military hospitals and similar. Running off of generators. The only domestic CU's I have installed were in new builds where there were not meters installed yet.

mike os my question was in relation to Whether it was better to keep separate supplies or change the incoming supply. Fortunately, despite my craply written post rikrobson got the gist of it and gave me the answer I needed. "This will need a new meter and you will need to speak to eastern Electric as your supplier".

Dave3066 yes I know it is notifiable work as that was part of the C&G course..

Finally I am in waiting on two local sparkies to come round and quote for the work before I make a decision.
