Advice on oiler/lubricator location

I want to install a sealey 4001L. i was going to install it withn a foot of the air pressure regulator but then thought the air and oil may have a long way to travel to the tool, 50 ft? . I'm now thinking of putting the oiler/luricator on a transportable carrier and then having my air tool connet to the carrier and my tool then be only about 10ft from the oiler/lubricator.

what are your thoughts?

Also, am I better to have an oiler fitted directly to the tool or will 10 ft away be ok?

If you intend spraying paint an oiler will contaminate your airline, you can get oilers to fit tools or just give each tool a squirt before each use

3 drops of oil before use and a squuirt when finished and a quick run in case moisture in tool

thank you for the relies. currently no intention of spraying. Sorry after my air regulator I'm going to split the airline in two, as I have a shot blaster so want to send dry air to that. You don't think its worth having a sealey oiler or any oiler in place?

save yourself the bother. ive never used one in 45 years and have a fair few old air tools

Split the air supply before the regulator if you are going to be blasting with it, you need max air flow

I just run my blaster direct of tank and have water separator on blaster dont bother with a regulator as above u loose volume

No mention here as to what you are oiling. We have some pneumatic kit that needs lubrication and its done with gadget that turns the lube (which has antifreeze in it) into a mist, this is ok for a hose length of 75feet because the volume of air ( 60cfm) keeps the mist suspended. Any less than this and the mist would drop out and hang on the wall of the hose, that in turn would wreck the kit and fill the hose with oil. So what I am getting at is the hose length is not a problem if you can maintain enough air velocity to keep the lube mist suspended.

oilers are only any good on production lines where the gear is running 24 seven. home use no need and a waste of time and money

for home workshop stuff oilers are pointless. oil tool directly.

i only have 1 tool i use an oiler with,thats a very high speed 1/8th die grinder the oiler is about a meter away from it, infact it is the joint between small diamiter whip hose and normal airline. only reason it one oiler really is it ether not used for months or used hours on end at a time.

everything else is oiled like brightspark said few drops before use and after. ( id almost say oil after use is more inportant oil clings well in tools but eventualy gets push out by air and water and water knackers air motors )

Last year I bought from Lidl a pneumatic saw and an air gun for undoing sockets. I don't really know why I bought them but I did.
The saw offers the same oil method as you do, add a few drops of oil directly to the tool. The windy gun however has its own oiler.
The oiler wont fit into the carry case if connected to the windy gun so was thinking of using a separate oiler.
I will hardly use either but I guess the saw is the one that will run the longest when used.

I will go with your advice and not bother with the separate oiler, thank you.

Just need to sort out a splitter and air line for the tools. Thinking about it, do I need to split the air line or just disconnect each tool when I want to use a different one.

Just disconnect the tool & plug the other one in as required. Fit some quick release couplings on the air line to make life easy. Screwfix is a good source of fittings, go for the PCL Xflow ones. I know Brightspark has said already, but oil the windy gun each time before & after, it uses the oil to make a seal. If you don't it will be down on power.
