Good evening all how r we,just been look at these plumbing mapp gas heat torches,,would they be any good for gas welding at all any body ever used one...thanks in advance.................paul
Oxy Mapp gas is no good for welding I'm afraid, the temperature of approx 2900 deg C may well be hot enough to melt light gauge steel but the secondary outer flame produces almost twice as much heat as oxy acetylene, and can't be concentrated into the root of the weld, so distortion is a major problem, however these characteristics are ideal for oxy fuel gas cutting and capillary brazing / soldering operations.
