Hi folks,
I'm just setting up a new workshop for a new Land Rover resto and, perfect timing, the Machine Mart VAT-free event invitation came through the door. I'm going to use a gun to spray the panels (individually) prior to fitting to the new car and am really looking forward to learning a new skill.
I already have a 14cfm 50l compressor as well as hoses/masks/a clean workspace/etc. But I need a spray gun setup and so will need a spray gun and, from what I understand a regulator and filter. I'd like to get them all from Machine Mart and would like some advice if possible.
I'll be spraying cellulose/synthetic paint (not 2 pack) and would like a gravity-fed gun to make the most of the air I have available and so have seen the Clarke AP16GF HVLP gun which looks pretty good and requires 9.5CFM. In addition to this I've seen the 000520105 small screw in pressure valve and gauge which I thought would be a good addition to the bottom of the gun.
Next I understand that between my compressor and the spray-gun I'll need a air filter and its about here that my knowledge runs out, I've read the painting guide and dual-compressor setup on the main site and found it very informative but am struggling with which filter to buy.
I'm aiming for the "simple DIY solution" at the bottom of this page but don't know which filter regulator would be suitable.
Could someone recommend one from Clarke's range (view here) that would be suitable? I notice they have one with an 'auto drain' if that would work.
Many thanks indeed.
p.s. I'll also be running an 'eBay-type' sandblasting pot so it would be nice if the filter would also provide dry air to this one too.
