Aerograph compressor

I’m hoping/sure there is an expert on these forums that can help with some info about a compressor I picked up today.
It’s an Aerograph type 244 compressor - any ideas on the duty of it?
The motor as far as I can make out is a “Brook motor” 1hp running at 1450rpm.
The tank is about 1200mm long and about 400mm diameter - making somewhere near 150litres?
It’s been sat unused for years, I’ve put a drop of fresh oil in, aligned the pulleys a little bit better than they were and it pumped straight upto pressure.
It could do with a good clean up and a fresh belt but other than that it seems to be fine.
If anybody has any info or could put a date to it it’d be great to know. A quick google doesn’t seem to bring up very much.

I had an aerograph compressor pump in one of my recent hauls of shed plunder, seems to be a very good pump, Ill get a pic of it on Monday, can you post a pic of the whole machine pls?

Hi Phil - thanks for the reply.
I agree, from initial fiddling in the sun this afternoon it appears to be a decent machine.
Need to do some calculations to see what sort of cfm it is delivering, whilst its so nice and quiet compared to my direct drive set up, having 2 14cfm direct drives coupled together delivers decent air. Attached is a pic, it’s certainly bigger than I thought from the advert!

I think mine is smaller than that, I think they did a range of tyre compressors that were portable, and also have a feeling we used to have a very small one by Aerograph which was used on WW2 aircraft, My dad was an airframe electrical fitter just after ww2, and brought plunder back home!

Mine isn't an Aerograph, made in London, it is an Aeraspray, made in Birmingham!

Easy to mix them up - very similar name and style!
Google doesn’t throw up much on aerograph type 224

I have a old Aerograph compressor that I got 25 years ago from a panelbeaters shop where the landlord wanted it gone as the tenant ha done a runner. It cost $NZ100 (approx 50 quid). Been a good compressor.

I agree - it seems to be well made and a good compressor, it run faultlessly all over the bank holiday weekend whilst I was painting my car. Yours looks to be slightly more original condition than mine

I've got one of these- much mucked about with now but still running. It has a physically huge 1hp motor on it, the pump is a parallel twin as per previous photos. Totally reliable but getting a bit tired now.After long periods of running, oil appearing in the air so only good for short bursts on paint these days.
