Air coming from air intake

Hi

I've changed the oil and the belt that were aging on my air compressor and since their is little bit of air coming out of the air intake. I realized that if I press a kind of release valve for 10 seconds, some kind trapped air release itself and it stop "leaking". I took a picture of it :

In red, the check valve.
In green, the small valve I press to release the trapped air.

I was wondering why it is doing this and if it is dangerous for the air compressor. Also how can I fix it ?

if the air continues to leak then you will need to take the large valve (red arrow) apart and give it a clean

How those are usually cleaned ?

Carefully and without the use of any kind of oil. Petrol is fine as long as you leave it to evaporate for a couple days afterwards. Anything heavier - paraffin, DERV, etc - can be classed as oils and must be avoided. Take care with any 'rubber' or metal seals and replace if you have the slightest doubt in their working integrity.
