Air compressor inlet filter help

Just want some ideas on how I can modify this. I basically want my air filter outside which I can do but the problem lies with connecting a air hose to the compressor air intake. in the picture is the air intake which I removed the stock filter and finding it difficult to find some sort of connector for the hose as the hole has no screw thread it’s like something could wedge in there but what? Oh and does it get hot at the intake as I thought I’d be able to use some sort of tape around a copper pipe but worried it might melt any help would be much appreciated ( have to keep noise down for neighbour sake it’s in a box hence why I need it outside) cheers pic below

You'll need to use vacuum cleaner hose or similar, so maybe the end will push in? Otherwise weld a short stub of steel tube to a plate and fit it where the original filter fitted.

I don’t think a vacuum hose will fit as the hole itself is 20mm wide approx. That maybe a good idea with the weld though I don’t have access to one or know anyone with one. Could I buy one similar made do you know any maybe make holes in the plate for the screws to go ? Thanks

you would need 2 bits of plate with holes cut and tube welded on one for comp end and one to bolt the filter 2 with hose in between

Maybe you could get a tapered nozzle that fits the hose?

But ditch that rubbish air filter. Especially if you're having to make up a new bracket anyway and it's going to go out of earshot.

I recently adapted my similar one to take a paper filter from a car. It's waay overkill and is a lot louder but has virtually no restriction compared to the original one. I made it take a second hand filter from my car.

If you can, use a complete air intake from a car or a piece of plant.
The filter intake housings are designed to silence the air coming into the engine and it's surprising how much they quieten a compressor.

Yea, what I've done is rather rough and ready. But it fits s/h filters I have kicking about

That filter will probably last for years on a compressor and certainly present no restriction to the incoming airflow so will work great.
Was just saying that an intake housing also acts as a silencer.
