Air compressor question

Hi,

I picked up a Clarke air compressor over the weekend from a friend. Its a Panther 50.

The problem that im having with it is that the auto on off switch fails to cut out when its reached the required pressure and the relief valve pops open.

No i know i can replace the switch easy enough, but is there anything worth trying before i shell out some cash. I know they can be adjust but how??

You can try adjusting the switch. I find they vary considerably until they settle in.

check the mechanism is not sticking and lubricate as required

Ok thanks ill try libricating it.

I presume its the bolt that sits on top of the spring that i adjust?? If so do i go clockwise or anti??

Clockwise to increase cut-off pressure and vice-versa. Some switches need to be adjusted with pressure in the tank for some reason.

that might be to stop the internals sticking we have one at work that does that
