Air compressor question

Lads, have just got my first air compressor and being a thicko am a bit confused

The compressor has a 50 Litre tank, 3.0hp motor, Air displacement CFM 14.5, Max free air delivery CFM 10.5, Free air delivery CFM 8.5

Which CFM do you look at when buying air tools, e.g. spray guns: one which says Air requirement 7.5 CFM and another which has an Air requirement of 11 CFM

Basically speaking Rich, when buying a compressor the higher the FAD figure the better and when buying air tools the lower the air requirement the better. Your figures quote a max FAD of 10.5 and also a figure of 8.5 which is the more realistic one. If you try to run a tool which needs more than 8.5 cfm you'll have to keep stopping to let the tank fill.
