Air compressor ! SIP 06288 Airmate 200 Pro-Tech ?

Hello again

Now I have my mig welder sorted I need some information / advice on air compressors.

I was just about to order SIP 06288 Airmate 200 Pro-Tech (18amp)

This is a 18 CFM , but at the time only last week like I had no Idea that there was piston displacement which was the 18 CFM and then the Free air which is only 14 CFM !! I thaught CFM was just free air !!

I could go for a bigger single phase unit but the SIP 06288 although fairly large has wheels and is portable, something I think I need.

So my questions firstly, is SIP good in the compressor range, I im clueless to which brands have good reputation or where they fit in the market.

Is there a larger than 14 free air CFM mobile unit available, all clark models seem to be 14 CFM piston displacement making them some 10 CFM free air delivery, I cant seem to find one bigger than the sip.

and finally is 14 CFM free air delivery adequate ?

I will be wanting to do HVLP spraying and also maybe the use of an air mask, advisable I guess ? and of course the use of most air tools , but im happy it will be fine in that department but not sure about HVLP spraying.

I will need a compressor for HVLP spray guns as Im not planning on buying a separate turbine.

I need a compressor that will do all types of work 8 CFM would be way to low I need a machine that would allow for expansion, who knows I may never even use 8 CFM but I dont want to be restricted.

You state that 14 CFM will require a 3 phase, that seems to be the case for most compressors I have found but the SIP 06288 Airmate 200 Pro-Tech is a 14 CFM free air and on a single phase, sip even do a huge 22 CFM free air on single phase the SIP 04425 1PH ISBD3.0/300T Airmate Industrial Super Belt Driven, but this is far from a portable machine and a bit more than I care to spend

Your right with the fact that Sip seem to be in the DIY stores, that puts me off a bit but then again its only the toy machines I have seen in the likes of Halfords, SIP do make a range far out of my budget so maybe I should accept that all manufacturers have a budget range.

Maybe the SIP 06288 Airmate 200 Pro-Tech 14 CFM free air single phase semi portable is the one to go for ?? Tough decision !!

If anyone has any more info on this subject it would be kindly appreciated.

the sip 14cfm comp should be fine i have a clarke twin pump 28cfm with two 3hp motors it came out of a spray shop .suposeddly knacked i bought it 60 quid its a fast running one . cleaned the air filters out renewed the rubbers in the one way valves on tank sorted the timed contactors out on it tightned the belts up give them a coat of belt dressing and its fine. i use it for shotblasting for longish periods and airtools . so a reasonable belt driven comp will last u years without spending a fortune
