Air couplers

In the first pic are the type of couplers I use at the mo...and in the 2nd and 3rd are ones Im thinkin of trying. The andvanges as I see it are that when coupled they are straight thro with no restriction. and secondly they shut the air off before they decouple so are a bit better on the safety front. Has any one on here used this type?

Never used that sort, pcl couplings are pretty much standard id be tempted to carry on using them.

A lot or the air that is released when uncoupling hoses etc is in the hose itself, and comes out from the male coupling when relesed. Looks like you would still have that problem with the other couplers....?

I have nearly all dyna-quip couplings, thats the type 23 you have a pic of.
norgren used to sell dyna-quip stuff and when I asked for quick release fittings they flogged me the dyna safety couplings, 1/4 turn and it exhausts the fitting then the fittings just pull apart. I bought them in the 70's so they are not new.

The safety fittings seal with a pair of o rings sealing on the cylindrical surface of the fitting and a couple of O rings sealing the sliding part of the body. They lasted a few years in everyday use before they start leaking. The O ring kits are a real pain to find and fit. Snap-on sold a cheap version of these couplings, wasn't a safety coupling and they leak after months. I have three types of the non safety couplings in use and they all leak, the couplings seal by what looks like a bit of rubber tube being pressed against a seat in the coupling and they don't last long.

I think it's only only the safety couplings that are straight thru.
They are much easier to put together than pcl fittings and the safety ones obviously don't fly apart when you release them.

I have a few PCL couplings and none of them leak even though some of them are about twenty years old. I keep meaning to swap all my air lines to pcl.
I found a real good deal on type 23 fittings it was oen of the companies that you see listed in the cross referances, CEJN I think, the couplings were a few quid, I was searching for type 23 repair kits when I saw them.

I've been using standard PCL couplings for ages and only had one leak and that was ancient.

I have a niggle with the current range though, the barrels are hard to grip and slide back when joining or seperating them, so I just put a Jubilee clip round them to act as a handle.

We use the legris C9000 safety couplings at work, never known one wear out or leak even when used & abused by production workers.
