air filter

Hi All
First time on here, could anyone tell me where i could get an air filter for my airmaster 8/60 ?
I've tried the obvious place but they didn't come in decembers delivery and don't know when they're going to get some more, I could pay for one and wait until it arrives but for how long ?

Quite a few on here successfully use car oil filters as compressor air filters, you just need to determine the thread on the intake pipe and find a matching cannister type filter.

That was quick ! Cheers tigler, unfortunately it's not that type of filter, it's only a little sponge thing, i'm actually thinking of cutting up a car wash sponge and fitting that, the dealers wanted £3.17 for the filter and £3.30 for p&p !! they won't deliver to the shops for pick up.
I just wondered if there was somewhere else that could supply me one, i'm getting rid of the compressor that's why i don't want to pay and wait.

Understood.
Sponge won't be any good, find a vacuum cleaner exhaust filter and cut it up to fit.

I have used a couple of layers of green scotchbrite in the past with a misting of light oil on them, Only use the comp for air tools and blowing, No paint spraying.

A couple of good ideas there lads thanks, i think i'll have to go with the scotchbrite one, we have those at work + Mrs hal ( not me ) uses a bagless hoover so i can't nick one off her

I normally just charge up the compressor take filters off then blast them clean!

Works with the car and hover filters

I'd been spraying 2 pack paint which had clogged the filter so i couldn't do that unfortunately, I'd sprayed in my garage so the paint settled on the filter.

I had an air fed mask with a compressor in my shed feeding me fresh/filtered air in case anyone wonders about the atmoshere i was spraying in + coverall/gloves shoe covers etc.

chances are if you remove the bit with sponge in theres a 1/2"bsp fitting on the machine , id planned to get a thread in adaptor and run a mini oil filter on mine one day

i broke one of the filters as well you can buy double threaded extension piece off the shelf in B&Q in plumbing section its not an exact fit for the filter but went in a couple of treads so should be fine


i must do the other one as there a lot better than them cheep plastic ones
